April 2005 PC Gamer Article
The April 2005 issue of PC Gamer has an interview with me about my research and reporting, but I haven’t read it yet, so I can’t fully comment on it. However, they do have an interesting version of my own MMOG Market Share Chart, which sadly is already out-of-date. It also doesn’t include Lineage I […]
Version 15.0 Available
Version 15.0 is now online. The numbers for World of Warcraft have gotten a major revision to keep up with Blizzard’s latest press releases. I’ve also redone the market share chart, since it was becoming too crowded to track every single game individually.
This will probably be my last chart until after the 2005 Game Developers […]
Version 14.0 Available
Version 14.0 is now online. I’ve updated quite a few of the numbers, but the full impact of World of Warcraft and EverQuest II on games like EverQuest I and Dark Age of Camelot is not yet known. I also don’t have updated figures for WoW or EQII, so both could be substantially higher than […]
Version 13.0 Available
Version 13.0 is now online. The charts now include more data for World of Warcraft and EverQuest II. Please keep in mind that this data is still very preliminary and could still change. It is widely believed that many other games have shown a decline in subscriptions as a result of the impact of WoW […]
Version 12.0 Available
Version 12.0 is now up! This is a major revision. I’ve added several new charts, which give a better perspective on what the overall market looks like, and integrated the report into the look and feel of the new web site. The biggest additions are, of course, EverQuest II and World of Warcraft.
Version 11.0 Available
Version 11.0 is now up. Mostly just filling In more data points. The biggest news is the indication that City of Heroes has actually fallen slightly from its peak.
Version 10.0 Available
Version 10.0 is now up. I’ve obtained several new data points, plus I’ve added Majestic, Second Life, and Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates.
Version 9.0 Available
Version 9.0 is now up. This is a major revision. I’ve separated the chart into three tiers to eliminate the problem with crowding at the lower end. This also enabled me to add Lineage and Lineage II numbers without distorting everything else. I’ve also added RuneScape and City of Heroes.
Version 8.0 Available
Version 8.0 is now up. It’s been over 7 months since my last update; unfortunately it took that long to collect some useful new data. I’ve added Horizons to the chart and added Mankind back again now that I have realistic subscription numbers.
